Tablescapping 101: The Art of The Table

Tablescaping is a fine curatorial art. The most captivating tables feel effortless—like dining seaside in Italy or at your effortlessly chic NYC girlfriend’s apartment. But in reality, a well-set table begins with thoughtful intention.

To create the perfect tablescape, you need just a few essentials—not too much, not too little. The key is quality. High quality doesn’t have to mean expensive; it simply means choosing 100% linen over polyester, or real silverware found at a thrift market for less than a pack of plastic cutlery from Publix. This is the mindset of curating a home with timeless elegance.

Here are the tablescaping essentials designed to last a lifetime.

A fine tablecloth

I would opt for 100% linen or a cotton linen blend like this one. There is something about linen that just elevates everything.

Real silver-wear

This is a game changer. Heavy, real flat-wear made of silver is worth the investment if you're hosting. You can find a beautiful traditional set on amazon, here. If you want something a bit more edgy, this set from Moda Operandi is super cool.

An accent vase

No table is complete without flowers, and flowers feel most beautiful in a chic accent vase, they told me. You really can't go wrong with a ceramic jug, this one from amazon particularly caught my eye. If you want one with more of a pop this orange fuscia vase stole my heart.

Embroidered napkins

Emphasis on the embroidered. I don't know what it is about embroidery that makes me feel like renaissance society woman. It is just too good. If you want a placemat and napkin set, i'm obsessed with this one. If you're just in the market for embroidered napkins, it doesn't get much better than this
